If you're tired of waiting for your Fire tablet to charge and want something a little faster, or simply need a replacement for your original charger, then this is the article for you!

I'm going to take a look at some of the best chargers for Amazon Fire tablets, whether you have an older model or one of the latest versions.

So let's get started!

Best Chargers for Fire Tablets

Although I've included some Amazon-approved chargers in this guide, you don't HAVE to pick one of those and most USB chargers will work just fine.

The most important consideration is choosing the right charger for your device's generation.

Right up until the release of the 2019 version of the HD 10, all Fire tablets came with micro-USB charging.

I - for one - was very happy when Amazon finally made the permanent switch to USB-C charging.

It's faster than the outdated micro-USB and it's easier to use.

That's because the connector has a nice, symmetrical shape that you can use either way up, unlike the micro-USB that will only fit one way.

Finally, buying USB-C chargers gives you more bang for your buck, because pretty much every device these days uses them!

Check if you need micro-USB or USB-C

  • Fire 7 (up to and including 9th generation ) - micro-USB
  • Fire 7 (12th generation and later) - USB-C
  • Fire HD 8 (up to and including 8th generation) - micro-USB
  • Fire HD 8 (10th generation and later) - USB-C
  • Fire HD 10 (up to and including 7th generation ) - micro-USB
  • Fire HD 10 (9th generation and later) - USB-C
  • Fire Max 11 - USB-C

Best Micro-USB Chargers for Fire Tablets

1. Amazon 5W USB Official OEM Charger and Power Adapter

Designed specifically for Fire tablets, the Amazon 5W USB Official OEM Charger and Power Adapter is reliable, durable, and Amazon-approved.

Note that you need to buy a micro-USB cable separately - it's not included with this charger.

2. Amazon 9W Official OEM USB Charger and Power Adapter

The Amazon 9W Official OEM USB Charger and Power Adapter is a high-speed charger for Fire tablets that offers faster charging than the 5W model.

Again, the micro-USB cable  is not included and you will need to buy it separately.

3. Dericam 5V 1A Micro USB Wall Charger

A common complaint about Amazon's official chargers is their price!

A budget-friendly alternative is this model from Dericam, which - as an added bonus - comes with the charging cable, too.

It also has built-in safety protection to stop it from overheating or overcharging.

Best USB-C Chargers for Fire Tablets

1. All-New, Made For Amazon, 15W Type-C Wall Charger with USB-C Cable

This made-for-Amazon charger is just what you need if you use your Fire often and like to charge it in as short a time as possible!

Here's how much it speeds things up:

  • The Fire Max 11 takes 4.2 hours to charge with the 9W adapter provided. With this model it takes 3.5 hours

  • The Fire HD 10 takes 4 hours to charge with the 9W adapter provided. With this model it takes 3 hours

  • The Fire HD 8  takes 5 hours to charge with the 5W adapter provided. With this model it takes under 2.5 hours

2. 15W USB-C Fast Charger

This is a more affordable alternative to the made-for Amazon model above.

It has the added benefit of a long (6.6 ft) cable, which is braided for durability.

Charger that Works with USB-C and Micro USB Fire Tablets

Fast Charger for All Kindle Fire Tablets with 6.6Ft USB to Micro-USB and USB-C

If you are lucky enough to have an older Fire that needs a micro-USB charger AND a newer version that uses USB-C, then this is the charger for you!

It features both types of connector - one sitting inside the other - so you can use it to easily charge both your devices.

It also has a super long cable (6.6 ft) made from braided nylon, so it's durable, too.

Wireless Chargers

Certain Fire tablets are equipped for wireless charging.

These are:

For these tablets you can use either the appropriate charging dock, or a compatible Qi-certified wireless charger.

Made for Amazon Wireless Charging Dock for Fire HD 10 Plus

The Made for Amazon Wireless Charging Dock for Fire HD 10 Plus is only compatible with the 2021 release of the Fire HD 10.

Made by Anker, it was designed specifically for this device and allows you to dock your tablet in portrait or landscape mode, even if it is in a case (up to 5mm thick).

Magnetic Chargers

Another option it to invest in a magnetic charger, which is a great way of protecting the port on your Fire tablet from damage.

Using your Fire tablet regularly means frequently plugging and unplugging its charging cable, causing wear and tear on the port.

Using the tablet while it's charging and propping it up on the wire adds even more stress.

Accidental damage is another hazard and  often occurs when tripping over the connected cable, causing the wire being forcefully disconnected.

Repairing a damaged port is expensive, sometimes exceeding the tablet's replacement cost.

A magnetic charger is an excellent solution.

It consists of a cable and a separate connector. The connector stays in the tablet, then you simply attach and detach the cable.

This reduces wear from constant connections and prevents crashes by breaking away if the cord is tripped over, keeping both the port and your tablet safe.

The TOPK Magnetic Charging Cable is brilliant value for money.

I hope this guide has helped you find the perfect charger for your Fire tablet.

I ♥ My Fire!
