Update

Amazon has now released new Fire HD 10 tablets for 2023.

The All-New Fire HD 10

The eleventh generation has arrived and the all-new Fire HD 10 is basically a refresh of its predecessor (released in 2019).

As before, it has a 10.1 inch screen size but the new version is both lighter and slimmer than before.

Here's the rest of what's changed.

  • The memory - increasing by 50%  from 2 GB to 3 GB RAM for a more responsive performance

  • Brighter display - a 10% increase with over 2 million pixels, giving a more vivid display

  • Split screen option - you can now use 2 apps side by side... super handy if you're used to doing that on your phone

  • Durability - the screen  is now made with strengthened aluminosilicate glass

  • The camera - 5 MP rear-facing camera (previously 2 MP)  plus 2 MP front-facing camera

One thing that HASN'T changed (yet) is the price :)

You still get up to 12 hours of battery life, Dolby Atmos sound and up to 1 TB storage with the microSD card slot. Storage options remain at 32 GB and 64 GB.

The front-facing camera is landscape oriented, so it's ideal for widescreen video calls and Zoom meetings!

The All-New Fire HD 10 Plus

The Fire HD 10 Plus is a brand new device.

It only differs from the standard all-new Fire HD 10 in a few ways, but this is reflected in the price. At the time of writing, it is only $30 more expensive.

Whilst the chipset and options for internal storage remain the same, the Fire HD 10 Plus has an  impressive 4 GB RAM - more than the standard, all-new HD 10 and twice as much as its 2019 predecessor!

This will be especially interesting if you play a lot of games - in fact, Amazon is describing this tablet as its 'most powerful 10 inch tablet ever'.

Other features include

The 2021 Fire HD 10 Plus uses the Qi wireless powering standard, so it will work with most charging docks.

However, the Wireless Charging Dock for Amazon Fire HD 10 Plus - made by Anker - was designed specifically for this device. You can dock your tablet in portrait or landscape mode, even if it is in a case (up to 5mm thick).

The benefit of using the dock - beside wireless charging - is that it allows you to use your tablet like an Echo Show. You can ask Alexa for weather updates, recipes etc, and see and hear your results from across the room.

You can either purchase the dock separately or buy the dock and the tablet together at Amazon as a bundle.
